Best women's backpacking packs

Updated October 5, 2026 · 8 min

As an Amazon Associate, Trailkit Outdoor earns from qualifying purchases. Full disclosure

Try the Osprey Aura AG 65 and the Gregory Deva 60 with the same weight. One will match your hip and torso and the other will not, and a unisex pack is not a shortcut. Buy the one that puts the load on the hip belt without a pressure point.

Who this is for. Women carrying a full weekend or week. Not a gram-counting kit that would rather have a ULA or a Kakwa.

The picks

Women's anti-gravity carry

Osprey Aura AG 65

Do not buy a unisex pack and hope. The Aura is worth it when the hip belt matches and the load is heavy enough to need the ventilation. It is a lot of pack for a summer quilt kit. Fit the torso in person if you can.

Who should buy it. Women carrying traditional loads who overheat under a flat back panel.

Pros

  • Ventilated back
  • Women's fit
  • Comfortable belt

Cons

  • Heavy
  • Overbuilt for a light kit

Women's supportive week pack

Gregory Deva 60

The Deva is the Gregory answer to the Aura. Try both with weight. One will feel like a hug and the other will feel like a mistake, and the reviews will not predict which. Shorter torsos should not force a long size.

Who should buy it. Women on week-long trips with a full bear can and a real sleep system.

Pros

  • Supportive
  • Women's fit
  • Stable

Cons

  • Heavy
  • Too much pack for ultralight

If you only buy one

If you overheat against a flat back panel, start with the Aura. If you want a denser, more supportive carry, start with the Deva. Fit both if you can.

FAQ

Are women's packs just shorter?

No. Hip belt angle, shoulder straps, and torso range differ. Length is only one part.

Can a woman wear the Atmos?

If the hip belt and torso actually fit. Many do not, which is why the Aura exists.

Is 60 liters too big?

For a bulky kit, no. For a quilt and a slim pad, yes. Empty volume becomes extra gear.
